When choosing a massage therapist, you want to be sure you’re choosing one that you can fully trust to answer all of your questions and concerns. I provide easy-to-understand guides on some of the most common questions and concerns I receive. Massage is a powerful tool and can be used to help many people, however it is not suitable for everyone.  Please feel free to connect with me today with any questions you may have or to enquire about a booking.

Do you massage clients with severe health problems?

The nature of any illness is as unique as the person themself.  All new clients are required to fill in an intake form and have a full consultation with me before treatment.  I would ask that you share and discuss with me the particular illnesses you have and how it affects you.  I may ask you to sign a medical waiver form before I commence the massage, or give you the option of consulting with your doctor to check that she or he is happy for you to receive a massage.  I may tailor my massage to take account of your medical issues, so please be open and honest with me.  I cannot, unfortunately, massage anyone who is pregnant or who has cancer - this is because specific training is needed to massage these groups of clients.

What will my first session be like?

We will discuss what you are looking to get out of your massage and I will let you know what I am able to provide.  You will complete an intake form, and we will discuss any medical issues and your inner and outer health before agreeing on how you will be massaged.  I will ask you to let me know if there are any parts of your body that you do not want to be massaged, for example asking if you are comfortable with an abdominal massage.  

I will then leave you to take as much clothing off as you feel comfortable with.  You are required to keep your underpants on.  You will lie on a couch face down and on your back during the massage.  You will be covered with two towels, and only the part of your body being massaged will be exposed at any one time. 

I usually start by warming up your back muscles, before massaging deeper into the muscles.  Then moving to the back of your legs, fronts of legs, arms, abdomen, shoulders and neck, face and head.
